Having lost their first match against Alab Pilipinas (54-65), Dragons will be flying over to Philippines to seek retribution.

Game will be live at 8PM Friday.

League Standings

Alab is definitely one of the stronger teams of the league this season. With 7 wins over 11 games, they are one of the top 3 teams.

The Westports Malaysian Dragons will have to put in triple the effort in order to reach the playoffs as they are currently at the bottom of the league winning 2 out of 11 games.

Recent games

The Philippine team defeated the league’s leader, Singapore Slingers in a tight battle over an away game by 2 points (62-64) last Sunday.

Dragons however lost both their recent games to Singapore (110-113) last Friday then to Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions (96-87) on Sunday.

Team adjustments

Despite the loss, it is aware that the Malaysian team has just recently had a team adjustment, with new imports Joshua Munzon and Keyondrei “Kiwi” Gardner joining the team.

Marcus Melvin and Freddie Goldstein were both let go to accommodate the new signings.

Team management at Westports Malaysia Dragons believes limiting the number of imports to have on their team to ensure their local players have more game time and experience.

“We’ll get there” says Coach Thomas about having the local players play at a better level.

“Our (local) boys have got the talent and the strength, what they lack is just experience.”

“And with our new dynamic, they will have more game time and definitely garner invaluable experience.” said the head coach.
