PHILIPPINES –Westports Malaysia Dragons wins Game 17 against Alab Pilipinas in a very tight match which both teams tied for a total of three times; in the second (38-38, third (60-60) and fourth quarter (84-84) to push for an overtime.

 

Joshua Munzon stepped it up during the overtime in a crucial point when Skylar Spencer fouled out when the clock had 3 minutes left to go at 88-90. The Fil-Am import managed 3 steals to secure the win.

 

23-year old Skylar Spencer had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds by half time and was able to increase them to 17 points and 23 rebounds before fouling out.

 

During the break, Coach Thomas told his players to ‘keep it simple’, “Especially when you execute it well, the game becomes very simple. Keep it up with the half-court defense and lessen your maneuvers when on offense.”

 

The entire Dragonforce were on fire this game, each scoring double-digits. Kuek Tian Yuan had 13 points, Yi Hou 12, Gardner 18 and Choo Wei Hong who substituted Spencer at the end had 13 points.

 

“We just came out and gave everything we had. Coach said every opportunity to play is an opportunity to learn when we give it all,” said the man of the match Joshua Munzon.

 

Westports Malaysia Dragons will be facing Saigon Heat in Ho Chi Minh City on March 11th this Saturday.

 

The Heat just defeated the league’s second best, Singapore Slingers in a tight 73-75, will Dragons be able to repeat their impressive teamwork again?
