The Westports Malaysia Dragons will be ending this Asean Basketball League (ABL) season playing against Kaohsiung Truth for the final time in Taiwan.

Having won their previous home game against the Truth last Saturday (103-78), the Westports Malaysia Dragons are one seat above them in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) leaderboard.

As both teams are currently at the bottom of the leaderboard, neither will be advancing despite the outcome of this game due to Saigon Heat’s (4th seed) 2 game winning gap.

The Heat manage to grab two wins in a row from the Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions and Singapore Slingers last week to secure their playoff entry.

“Although there is about no more chances for us to head into the playoffs, we will play our best and end this season strong,” said assistant coach Goh Cheng Huat.

Coach Christopher Thomas is still suspended from the game from his technical he received two games ago against Heat.

Not letting it get to him, he said, “I can’t be at the game, but I still will be coaching and training them till tip-off. They will be ready for whatever is to come.”

Ivan Yeo, Ma Chee Kheun and Loh Shee Fai of the Dragons are still facing some minor lower half injury and will be sitting this game out for speedy recoveries.

“I wish I could be playing but coach (Thomas) and Renesh (physiotherapist) said I should be resting as my condition can only get worse if I play,” said Ivan Yeo. “Watching my team train while I watch from the bench really isn’t fun.”

With only 9 players, will the Dragons still stand a chance to defeat Kaohsiung Truth?

Tip-off will be at 7PM this Saturday at Kaohsiung Municipal Senior High.
