The Dragonforce gains momentum with the addition of Blackwater Elite’s team captain, Reil Cervantes.

The professional Filipino basketball player who is a 3-year veteran in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) league will play as a forward for the Dragons in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) 2017-18.

Standing tall at 6’4”, he switches roles between small forward and power forward very easily. Known for his smart post-ups, Reil is also good with the ball behind the 3-point line.

Raised in Daraga, Albay in the Philippines, he picked up the ball at the age of 10, and through his love for the game, started playing competitively during high school at United Institute.

“I love this game as it mirrors life.

“You can learn so much about life itself by studying the art of basketball,” he said.

Time in PBA

Reil gained spotlight during his time playing for Far Eastern University.

It was during then that he was drafted 9th by the Barangay Ginebra Kings in the PBA in 2011.

He didn’t have much game time in his first 2 years in PBA from 2011-12 with the Barangay; and 2012-13 with Barako Bull.

However, things took a turn in 2014 when he was signed to play for Blackwater. He gained more minutes and even averaged at 11.3 points per game.

Excited for the new ABL season he said, “I look forward to having great games with team and our opponents and hope to have an injury free season.”
