Kuala Lumpur – Dragons played their last game of the Malaysia Hoops Challenge 2018 against the Malaysia Red Baron and suffered a tight loss, 72-76.

Red Baron was the clear winning during the earlier quarters up till the 4th where Dragons started playing more aggressively, making risky but fruitful shots.

In the first half, the team were unable to stop Baron’s Chong Eng Hong. The shooting guard was firing at 70% shot accuracy from the field, giving his team 17 points by mid-game. (35-42)

At this point (half-time), Dragons were shy of 7 points and needed a few good plays to recover from the point loss, but were only able to come so close to Barons even in the 3rd quarter (52-56).

The 4th quarter started with Dragons at a 4-point deficit but this was where things got really interesting.

Daniel Eves from the Baron picked up his 4th personal foul at the 8th minute mark and started to play less on defense. The Dragons try to force a mistake on him but Eves knew better, kept his distance when on defense.

On this note, Freddie Lish who has been on the bench due to a sprained right wrist has been put on the court by Coach Choo Chee Seng of the Baron, however he was sent out again before he put a ball through the hoop. (71-73)

With both teams maxed out on fouls and only 2 points away, it was a matter of which team could perform better in transition.

Sammy Monroe gets a free-throw off the board for a 3-point gap, 71-74. The referee calls a foul on Li Wei (Baron) for Wei Long of the Dragons to shoot for two.

Unable to convert them both, Mike Karena goes for the rebound and gets the ball in Eversley’s hands who then tried for a risky 3-point shot to tie the game – he misses, Baron gets the rebound.

Another half-convert free throws made by Sammy and Eversley respectively saw the game ending at 72-76.
