KUALA LUMPUR – In light of next week’s Hoops Challenge tournament, Dragons have Michael Karena from New Zealand to join the squad.

Turning 25 this year, the 208cm (6’8″) tall center was born in Lincoln and started playing basketball in Canterbury which then led to his scholarship to play in Nelson College.

He then played 4 years of college basketball in the United States via scholarship — 2 years in junior college then another 2 years in (NCAA) Division 1.

His professional career started with the Canterbury Rams in the New Zealand National Basketball League after which he went on to play one season in Spain’s Division 2 League.
