KUALA LUMPUR – Our last away game of January was played at GOR Kertajaya, Surabaya last night against Indonesia’s CLS Knights where we had a loss by 3 points, 73-70. It was an extremely tight game that saw neither teams with more than 6-points of gap throughout the first 3 quarters. The final quarter had the audience on their toes as the Dragons stole the lead from the Knights after Wong Wei Long, their Singaporean import shot a dagger from the three-point arc for a 7-point lead. 2 points ahead of the Knights with 2 minutes on the clock, Wei Long sinks another three which put them ahead of us but Winston Shepard came in with a sweet lay for a comeback to secure the lead. The score then was 69-70 after that lay-in, but the Knights showed their determination with Douglas Herring and Brandon Jawato putting in 4 points together under a minute for their 3-point win. Our #DigiBorderless player of the game Winston Shepard of our team had 23 points paired with 7 rebounds and 4 assists while our other two imports had double-double – Nnanna Egwu with 12 points, 11 rebounds then Chris Eversley with 11 points and 10 rebounds. But the one player who really shined was Loh Shee Fai, who nicked 8-points in the first quarter to then a whopping 17-points by game’s end. The CLS Knights are currently on a 6 game winning streak and we very well intend to break that spree this Friday as we will be playing them again, however in a different setting, in our home court, Dragons’ Den (MABA Stadium) at 8:30PM.
