The KLDBA (KL Dragons Basketball Academy) is open for all ages with training sessions running for approximately 14 weeks each school term. Coach Joselito Vergara is our head coach who is backed by a team of experienced assistants coaches. Our player to coach ratio is monitored to ensure our basketballers are getting the best from every session. We are currently looking to expand the academy by running competitive games at the end of each month so players can put their skills they have learnt into real game situations. For players looking to participate in the monthly games, there are two options.
The Academy officially started in 2013 providing free basketball clinics to public schools in the Klang Valley. Due to the high demand, permanent weekly practices began in several schools at the end of 2013. The Academy now offers private practices, personal training, and school development programs. The Dragons are also official partners with Jr NBA Malaysia and provide a selected group of core coaches for Jr. NBA.
The vision of the academy is to promote and develop youth basketball with hopes of more and more players spreading the love of the game to Malaysian communities. With current strategies in place, we aim to support local schools with equipment and coaching to help expose students to the game and give them the opportunity to enter teams in the tournaments. Under the guidance of the academy’s coaching team, these young players can develop and hopefully live their dreams by playing at the collegiate, national, or professional level.
Through our training, players are nurtured technically and mentally to develop strong basketball fundamentals which include discipline, teamwork and confidence. By teaching players more than just basketball, the academy hopes to make a positive impact on each of the players lives by enhancing their skills both on and off the court.
